Young people who sat their GCSE exams in Reading this summer will be finding out their results this morning. Vocational technical qualification (VTQ) students will also be receiving their results this week.
While the majority will be pleased with their grades, the Elevate careers service, run by Brighter Futures for Children, will be on hand to offer education and training advice to anyone who needs support.
Elevate will be supporting through a drop-in session between 12-4pm today (Thursday 21 August), 12-4pm at Reed Recruitment Agency, 66-68 St Mary’s Butts, RG1 2LG, as well as face-to-face appointments that can be booked (details below).
Brian Grady, Director of Education at Brighter Futures for Children, said: “Well done to everyone collecting your results this morning. It’s always a special day and you should be incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved.
“If you didn’t receive the results you were expecting, there are still many options available to you, and our Elevate careers service is on hand to help you choose your next move.
“Good luck with whatever path you decide to take, whether that be A-levels, BTEC, college or anything else.”
Cllr Rachel Eden, Reading’s Lead Councillor for Education and Public Health, said: “A huge congratulations goes to everyone receiving GCSE exam results this morning. I know how much hard work goes into these exams, and we are all very proud of you for reaching this milestone.
“Whatever your results, now is an important time to look at your future and what you’d like to do next. Once you’ve taken time to celebrate your efforts, reach out for help if you need it to decide what comes next.
“A big thank you to everyone who supports our students, including their families and carers as well as teachers and other staff.”
