We are Brighter Futures for Children

Established as an independent, not-for-profit Company in December 2018 by our owner, Reading Borough Council, our responsibility is to deliver children’s social care, early help & prevention and educational services (including SEND) on the Council’s behalf.

In January 2025 the decision was made to bring Brighter Futures for Children back into the Council and staff and services will move across on 1 October 2025. We are currently working on the transition to make it as smooth as possible.

Our vision is – and always will be – to unlock resources to help every child and young person to have a happy, healthy and successful life. We believe that we are most likely to succeed if our staff, children and young people we work with are involved and engaged in everything we do.

PLEASE NOTE: Externally, to the residents of Reading and beyond, we will still be known as Brighter Futures for Children and our branding and the people you may be working with will remain the same. What will change is their emails – to reading.gov.uk – but both emails will work for the foreseeable future and all links on this website will be updated in due course.
