Training run by BFfC’s School Effectiveness team promotes writing for pleasure at its core. We have a long history of using the strategies and pedagogies underpinning Talk for Writing from our work with Pie Corbett. We are passionate about identifying the best texts to promote reasons for crafting high quality writing. Our modelled use on planning from a great text demonstrates the key drivers of audience and purpose to provide the motivation, context for and content of short burst, over time, extended or free choice writing. Central to improving writing has been our years of experience assessing writing and training teachers and moderators to do so accurately. Our lesson studies have enabled us to investigate creative approaches to unblock barriers to learners identified by teachers.
