Head of Commissioning, Contracts & Procurement

Contract: 2 year fixed term contract, 37 hours per week
Salary: £78,734
Closing Date: Midnight 31 March

It has never been a better time to join children’s services in Reading; we have recently transitioned into a new, independent, not-for-profit-company. We are now Brighter Futures for Children with our own Board of Directors focused on delivering the best possible opportunities for the children of Reading.

We are driving through a progressive and ambitious improvement and transformation plan and are now seeking an experienced and commercially focused Head of Commissioning, Contracts & Procurement.

This is a new strategic role to develop and implement transformation in the way we commission and procure services for children and families. It requires excellent partnership working with relevant stakeholders to deliver a diverse and modern range of local, high quality services for children and families.

To be successful in this role you will need a high level of commercial acumen in managing the conflicting demands of a resource intensive service and solution based leadership in a climate of financial stringency. You will be expected to deliver annual savings of c£2m against an overall budget of c£22m.

Experience and confidence will deliver integrated commissioning and procurement activity that delivers best value across early intervention, children’s social care and transitions to adult services.

Full details of the role can be found in the attached job description and person specification.
